The tourist possibilities in our region are infinite and very attractive. The conjunction among natural and cultural values, a privileged location (near Seville), and its rural character that keeps traditions, festivities, mature smells and flavours and a way of life attached to the area, form an irresistible mixture to the visitor.

Apart from the natural potential of the region, leaded by Doñana Natural Space, it is also important the wealthy cultural and hereditary legacy, result of centuries of history and the influence of multiple civilizations settled in the territory all along the centuries. It is also interesting the ethnology and the peculiarity of the inhabitants, characterized by their plainness and way of life.

In conclusion, Aljarafe-Doñana is a territory that fascinates the tourist, full of contrasts and opportunities, that offers endless suggestions, from natural, gastronomic, religious or cultural tourism to calm or active leisure.

Special mention deserves the ornithological tourism, a rising tourism full of strength, which adds value and wealth to the region, the birds life. Even more frequently, we can find lovers of ornithology around our natural spaces, most of them British, German, French and Portuguese, and also Spanish, attracted by the possibilities this land offers to the birds observation.

In relation to the artistic and architectural heritage, it is better showed in streets than in museums, although we find one singular museum, Museo Pickman de la Cartuja de Sevilla in Salteras. However, walking around any town in the region, we can enjoy its cultural treasure, typically rural and clearly visible in houses, farms, squares and streets.

The region is also rich in religious architecture, which includes small chapels or large collegiate churches, and a multitude of churches and hermitages. Most of these monuments belongs to two important periods in the artist and cultural development in the area, Mudejar (14th and 15th centuries) and Baroque (18th century). However, the type of rural construction more interesting is the estate.

In our region, culture is showed in its popular and centenary craftsmanship. Many manual uses are linked to the natural space (Doñana and the Guadiamar bank), as saddlery, the creation of natural essences, the construction of huts in the marshland or gastronomy. Other traditional activities are related to the original celebrations, as the flamenco craftsmanship and its accessories (flamenca dresses, boots, wide rim hat, carriage, etc.), and in many towns, it is also very representative the tradition of embroidering Manila shawls. Moreover, it exists a serie of handmade uses related to Easter, as imagery, the construction or restoration of Easter structures, the goldwork (embroidery), etc.

Aljarafe-Doñana is also well known for its celebrations. One of the most important is the El Rocío Pilgrimage, which is celebrated with high intensity. The pilgrims make their way through the region, which becomes in the nerve center of universal Marianism every spring. The Quema ford or Villamanrique de la Condesa are some of the places pilgrims go through to reach El Rocío.

Another deeply-rooted festivity in the region is Easter, lived with devotion in all the towns. Fairs, pilgrimages and other celebrations form a calendar full of events.

Finally, we have to mention our gastronomy, which has its origin in some of the people who lived here for centuries, as Muslims, who left a pastries tradition in bequest. Another part in the gastronomy of Aljarafe-Doñana is necessary linked to the natural resources that Doñana Natural Space offers since time immemorial.
